Firefighters Come To the Aid of Alaniz

The fire fighters are having a fundraiser for Craig Alaniz on Sunday at Station 9 on Estudillo Avenue. Alaniz is a 2002 graduate of San Leandro High and was a s t a r t i n g pitcher on the Pirates baseball team as well as the Washington Manor Rangers. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in August and has undergone treatment at Stanford Hospital. …. Read more

Redding Remembered Fondly

Last month, over 100 of the city’s homeless people enjoying a Thanksgiving meal at the San Leandro Community Church. One of the men in photo, Shawn Redding, died less than a week later. Redding, 32, was found dead in the San Leandro Creek on Nov. 27. He had lived in San Leandro since his family moved from Oakland when he was just five and was a 1994 graduate of San Leandro High. …. Read more
