  1. Cindy Warner Says:

Best wishes for a recovery to Mario. I myself am a bicycle commuter and appreciate the bike path on Williams. It’s very crowded before and after school with cars lining the curb for pick ups and drop offs . . . there’s a crossing guard at least . . . San Leandro is a good place for bikes and the pathes are quite an asset, they run downtown to where I need to go and they are flat. It’s all the glass in the streets that bothers me . . . all over Merced, Marina, Lewelling and Washington. That underpass over which BART runs on Washington is horrendous with no pavement or safe walkway for pedestrians, just lots of glass so I actually have to carry my bike or ride all the way up to East 14th which is very dangerous.

We are all probably very aware of the death of the 30 year old bike rider from San Leandro and her companion . . . this issue needs attention as the world tries to reduce dependence on oil and use public or alternative transportation in daily life, not just for recreation. Who in the world would invent SUVs when in London drivers have tiny little SMART cars. What’s the hurry? SUVS probably contribute to obesity . . . Slow down, live health. Bike riders and pedestrians and joggers are healthy and probably don’t have the expenses drivers do. Yet, biking is good for everybody because it reduces traffic and pollution.
