Cherry Festival Just Around the Corner

San Leandro is about to get a little sweeter because the Cherry Festival is coming up on Saturday, May 31. 
About 10,000 people expected to come downtown to West Estudillo Avenue for the festival, which will feature 60 booths, a farmer’s market, rides and games, a special kids’ area, and – of course – lots of cherries. More

Redwood 4H Feeds Homeless

The Redwood 4H Club recently completed its annual Service/Learning Project. A group of about a dozen 4H members met over the course of three months to plan, shop and prepare an evening meal for a group of homeless and needy people in downtown Oakland. The club partnered with CityTeam Oakland, using their kitchen and facilities to serve the food they prepared. When Al Gerace frequented Hobbies Unlimited as a child, he never knew his weekend pastime – walking up and down aisles of model tankers, trains, and cars – would turn into his profession.
