San Leandro Badminton Tops Tennyson, 8-7

San Leandro High School kicked off their badminton season with an 8-7 win over Tennyson High. Newark’s Big Guns Sink Dons in Playoffs

Newark Memorial brought their big guns on Tuesday night, sinking the Arroyo girls basketball team from outside the 3-point arc, 59-54. Both Ashtyn Mullin and Danielle Robledo sank four 3- pointers for Newark, and Lauren Ortiz added a pair to give the Cougars a total of 10 treys — seven in the first half — as Newark advanced to the second round of the North Coast Section, Div. 1 playoffs. …. Read more

Pirates Win, but Still Not Up to Speed

Eden convincingly, 72-53, Friday but it wasn’t good enough in the eyes of head coach Todd Petersen. San Leandro improved to 3-1 in the Hayward Area Athletic League but that one loss to Castro Valley is still a fresh memory for the Pirates. Pirates Fall to CV In Overtime, 67-61

Arroyo Boys Soccer Breaks the Ice

Pirate Comeback Beats Berkeley, 73-67

yon_112207_81.jpgMonte Vista running back Richie Storlee broke away on a 20-yard rampage to the end zone for the Mustangs first score against San Leandro on Friday night in first round of the NCS 4-A playoffs, and he was just getting his feet wet. Storlee put the Pirate defenders to the test all night as Monte Vista built a 35-0 lead and held off San Leandro for a 35-13 win at Burrell Field. The Mustangs will travel to face top-ranked De La Salle this Friday night. …. Read more

Arroyo Wins Cross Country League Title

Arroyo High runners Derek and Danny Thomas finished among the top four runners in the cross country league championships, held in the drizzle at Hayward High on Saturday. The Thomas brothers helped Arroyo High take second place as a team at the HAAL Championships. Combined with their first place finish in the regular season, that gave the Dons the HAAL trophy this year. …. Read more
